Hungry Snail

Housed in a magnificent Georgian town-house dating from 1741. L’Escargot is one of our hidden gems. It not only provides impeccable food but is also a great place to sneak away from the hustle and bustle of the city and get on with some work in peace.

Famous for it’s snails. It was the first restaurant in England to serve the slimey creatures . It also boasts a stunningly eclectic art collection, both traditional and contemporary with some favorites by Picasso, Salvador Dali and Henri Matisse.

MAINS:

Poulet & Fries

I had the Salon dining room all to myself with it’s elegant decor, 18th Century ceiling and large windows. Perfect for a private lunch/dinner (for one). I opted for the lunch menu and ordered the poulet with fries with fresh green tea. Being chicken obsessed there was no disappointment, the green drizzle was divine!

Dirty Bones Shoreditch

We’re no strangers to Dirty Bones and their delicious array of naughty food so when we were invited to the launch of their new restaurant in Shoreditch we jumped at the chance! The new digs felt like the parent to Dirty Bones Kensington and much better behaved.

11am on the weekend is never too early to start drinking -especially not when brunches are involved. With the amount of food we ate our cocktails had to work extra hard to get us anywhere near merry.

PINE UP:

Finlandia vodka, fresh pinapple, pinapple juice, fresh celery and celery syrup (It’s basically a smoothie)

If you’re a fan of pineapple (i mean who isn’t?) No really we’d like to know. Who the hell doesn’t like pineapple!?  then this is a must. If like us you are starting on an empty stomach go easy. Seriously yummy!

TOO MANY MAINS TOO MANY MANY MAILS (NO SIDE DISHES)

FYI you can never have too many mains 😉

1:CHICKEN & WAFFLES

1/2 pile of crispy fried chicken with a freshly baked waffle and shot of maple syrup. Topped with a fried egg

Southern comforts hold a special place in our hearts, there’s nothing better than tucking into some well seasoned crispy chicken drizzled in syrup. Our chicken was however a little on the pink side which threw us off but the waffles and egg were perfect. We’re routing for this one!

Photo 03-09-2016, 12 43 51 pm

2: THE MAC DADDY

6oz house burger topped with puled beef short rib, mac & cheese and homemade BBQ Sauce

This was our absolute favorite dish of the day. The beef was cooked to smokey perfection and the creamy mac was oozing with flavor. The brioche bun was a little on on the crusty side and we would have loved to have accompanying fries on offer but overall  we loved it!

Photo 03-09-2016, 1 03 13 pm

3: SHORT RIB HASH

14 Hour slow – cooked pulled short rib, finished with caramelised shallots and musturd seeds, served with new potatoes and 2 poached eggs.

Correction: new potatoes, 2 poached eggs served with a slither of cooked pulled short rib. The short rib was so scarce a vegetarian could have quite happily eaten this dish and not noticed. Not our fave :(.

4: AVOCADO CRUMPETS

Chunky goats cheese, avocado and garlic guacamole with spicy sriracha drizzle, free range egg and hollandaise sauce.

This was a really strange one for us. We felt there was a little too much going on and the textures didn’t all get on. The egg avocado and hollaindaise sauce merged in the garlic guacamole just didn’t do it for us.

Long White Cloud

We have to bring you in on a little secret. This place probably does one of the best breakfasts in London! No word of a lie – and they didn’t pay us to say that (they probably should have). This beast will wake you up from any hangover and make you feel so good you’ll forget how bad you felt in the first place.

The Full English comes in many fresh shapes and sizes. We opted for the fried egg, beans, bacon, mushrooms and a side of delicious avocado drizzled in pure goodness.

If you’re feeling extra indulgent they have a divine sweet selection of cakes which they alternate daily. Just try not to get hooked as you may have to wait for some of your favorites to come round again.. great excuse to stop by EVERY DAY!!

There’s Something About Pizza

Sunday’s are best spent enjoying the sunshine (if you’re lucky) with a good meal. We set out to Primrose Hill to catch a bit of both on what was meant to be a sunny day but soon realized that wasn’t going to be the case *cue rain*! luckily we were in the comfort of J Pizzeria so it could rain all it wanted to.

It was fractionally busier than usual and we were greeted and sat down to our table. After several requests for a menu and 20 minutes later we were finally seen to. We ordered our drinks and a side of calamari to share and proceeded to wait for another 15 minutes for our drinks and an extra 10 for our Calamari. On arrival the waiter managed to drop his tray with drinks in tow inches from us and a sea of glass spread across the ground. Like a scene from a film. The staff apologized and offered us a free round.

STARTER: CALAMARI

After what seemed like a lifetime waiting for our starters to arrive.. they finally did! The calamari did not blow our minds but by this point we were so hungry that the sight of food alone was enough to get us through it.

Photo 02-04-2016, 4 36 54 pm

MAINS: PIZZA PARMA HAM

parma ham, rocket and cherry tomatoes

The pizza somewhat made up for where the calamari lacked in excitement. The toppings were plentiful and fresh. The tomato base was a little scarce but the parma ham was delicious.

Photo 02-04-2016, 5 07 26 pm

MAINS: PIZZA

char grilled chicken pieces with pepperoni and Italian sausages, mozzarella, tomato, chilli and rosemary

This pizza was our favorite of the two and was bursting with flavor, a little on the greasy side but equally delicious if you’re as hungry as we are.

Roka ‘n’ Roll!

If you’re looking for somewhere to pre-game before a debauched night out and by pre-game we mean EAT one of our favorite Japanese spots has to be Roka Mayfair. With 4 locations spread across London, Roka is an excellent place to get all your chums together for a tasty evening or impress a special date. You’re welcome! They don’t just go around issuing awards willy nilly but this prize winning gem more than deserves it.

The atmosphere is very welcoming and elegant with a contemporary feel and what better way to build anticipation of a meal than to see it prepared before your eyes. Let the show begin!

We were out in full force with big appetites so naturally wanted to order everything on the menu. Luckily the tasting menu was on offer or we may have been there all night with the indecisive ones among us *cough*.

The tasting menu is a great shout and gives you all the best that Roka has to offer- no fomo! We worked our way through sashami platters laid over crushed ice, seared beef striploin with black truffle dressing and as much black cod we could get our mouths on.

With our appetites the dishes disappeared pretty quickly but we managed to snap a few of the best bits and listed our must have orders!

Dessert:

After ravishing our way through each of the courses dessert was the perfect end to our meal. These 2 choices will change your life. The only bad thing we have to say is that we wish there was more of it. Next time we will not be sharing!

chocolate to macha pudding, yo-nashi aisu

dark chocolate and green tea pudding, crunchy jivara, pear ice cream

saku saku banana aisu bo-ru, miso-lime toffe to banana zoe

The Hangover Games

When it comes to Sunday mornings and hangovers Market Place always seems to have the last few fry ups available. Sunday has  officially been named Full English Breakfast/ i regret last night day. The wise ones among us who didn’t drink the bar manage to get their asses out of bed in time to grab one. The hanovercapped (guilty) need a few more hours to get our lives together. Today was pretty groggy to say the least and all that was needed to survive was a fry up. We wondered up Broadway Market and got just that after being turned away like Jesus and Mary from every other place because they had run out.

Btw Broadway Market is full of hot blooded males looking for good grub on the weekends. It’s like the real life ‘Hunger Games’ – for food.  They use thier hotness to distract you from your goal.. and some don’t make it. If you’re easily distracted it’s the perfect place to window shop. Just don’t let your boyfriend catch you! Unless he’s into that sort of thing..

Full English Breakfast:

When you’re hungover and waiting for the last few drops of alcohol to evaporate from your being, food is just as good as mouth to mouth resuscitation. With each mouthful slowly bringing you back to life and restoring the color in your cheeks.

Dessert

Sticky Toffee /Banana Pudding

Sticky toffee pudding has fast become an all time favorite and this place has got to do the best one i’ve had in my life. It’s so good i’m struggling to find the right words to justify it. If licking plates in public was a chill thing to do i’d do it every time. It’s so good it makes up for the pretty sluggish service. There are always so many waiters around but never anyone to take your order. How is this possible?

Made in Italy. What about you?

They say Italians make the best lovers (no comment) one thing we can comment on is the food. We did a recent poll of our favorite restaurants/memorable lovers.. 3 skinny fat bitches took part. Italian(s) came out on top. I hear that’s where they like it. I’m yet to come across a human being that doesn’t like Italian.. food. They  make the best pizza, pasta, risotto, gnocchi, pizza. Did i say pizza?!

Made in Italy is always a cozy bet. On a cold day it’s perfect as it always seems to be set to sauna temperature. Be careful ladies that cake on make up, it may melt off! Ok it’s not that bad but on this occasion it was a little on the toasty side. The Kings Road isn’t bursting with (food) options so it’s also pretty convenient if you want to save yourself walking up and down looking for somewhere to eat. The staff are usually bubbly and attentive and the food comes quick.

Starters:

The starters will keep your taste buds occupied while you wait out your mains. If you’re a meat fiend then you absolutely need to order the Antipasto selection. If you want to mix it up, why not throw in some calamari because, no good Italian meal every started without it.

Gran Piatto di Antipasto misto (to share)

parma ham, salami milano, roasted ham, buffalo mozz, rocket, grilled mediterranean vegetables, bruschetta and marinated olives

Frittura di Calamari e Zucchine

Fried squids and courgettes served with mixed salad and lemon

Photo 16-03-2016, 8 37 28 pm

Skinny Fat Bitch 1:

Grilled salmon served with salad and lemon

Grilled to perfection with just the right amount of seasoning but when you’re sitting opposite a drool worthy pizza sometimes you wonder if you made the right choice!!! It was delish but next time i’m getting the pizza!! Was. Not. Ready.

Photo 16-03-2016, 9 05 10 pm

Skinny Fat Bitch 2:

Proscuitto Funghi e Panna

Mozzarella, tomato sauce, roasted ham, mushrooms,Italian cream

When your pizza is dripping in rich cream, asking for extra parmesan may come as a surprise to your waitress, especially when you forget to tell him to stop and start daydreaming. You can never have too much extra cheese let’s just get that straight. If this was the last thing you were going to eat for two days, you may just about survive!

Let Us Eat Cake!

Cake is a girls best friend, it gets us through good times and the bad and can just about fix any problem under the sun for  be it the briefest moment.

If you are looking for a little escakism then this little gem on the Kings Road is just the place. They also do delicious smoothies & oh so hot chocolate. Bosh!

What we’re growing to love about this place is that every day is a brand new offering. This can be a good or bad thing as if you get hooked on something you may just have to keep coming back till they have it again, but in the meantime there’s bound to be something else to drool over.

Dessertbecause life is short, why save the best till last when you can have it right NOW

Pretty sure this was a white chocolate, raspberry and toffee cake. Entirely sure it was out of this world good!

The white chocolate/cream was orgasmic, add the raspberry/toffee sponge and you will become this cakes bitch. I have dreams about this cake. No joke it’s that good!!

Photo 01-03-2016, 1 09 57 pm

P.s this is not the kind of cake you’re going to want to share so if you’re going with a friend tell them to get their own and let you eat your life.

You’re welcome!

Nell’s

Some people walk into stores/supermarkets and forget what they went in to buy. I walk into restaurants.. my meeting had finished and i had a bit of time to kill so thought why not grab a hot chocolate and catch up on some emails. Sure enough that hot chocolate turned into lunch + hot chocolate. Or should i say pre-lunch as my next meeting was meant to be a luncheon and it’s rude to let people eat on their own right?

Nell’s is the perfect cute cafe/juice bar with yummy food on offer and if you’re feeling extra peckish a cheeky slice of cake. The counters are laid out with fresh dishes of the day and are pretty hard to ignore.

Keeping in mind that this was a “pre-lunch” i didn’t go crazy and ordered a chicken quiche with a side of salad for decoration.

I wasn’t expecting the world. I mean how good can a quiche be? but was pleasantly surprised at how much flavor was packed in. It was delicious and left more than enough space for my actual lunch.

The hot chocolate is always delicious here and highly recommended.

Run For The Hills

Tonight was catch up night with the bestie and we were decided to head to our not so local Primrose Hill spot. It was officially wear 5 sweaters, tights under jeans, hair bundled into beanie kind of weather. The kind of weather that slaps you in the face to check if you are still wide awake kinda weather. The kind of weather that makes you question why the fuck you are even going out kind of weather. I think you get the point. Despite all these signs telling us to stay home, we were both in need of some comfort food and a large glass of wine or 5 with good company.

I don’t know what it is about this place (it’s not the food) but whenever we come here we are one of about 5 people inside the restaurant. Sometimes i have been on dates here and it’s just been 2 of us. It takes intimate dining to a whole new level. I’ve been in Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter and it’s the same story. The staff must be bored out of their minds!

Maybe it’s the fact that you barely get phone reception? As people spend most of their time on their phones instead of interacting these days. I won’t lie that would usually be a deal breaker for me. I’ve been on a few bad dates here and my usual way out is to play on my phone to avoid excruciating conversation or to keep going to the loo and devise plans with my friends on ways to politely escape. Nope not here, here you have to look your date in the eye and deal with it. This time i decided to sit next to the door to be in the best line of reception because i knew my girl was probably going to get lost more so than worrying about the convo being dry. This was partly my fault as despite coming here more times than i go to the grocery store i still couldn’t remember the name.

On arriving 30 mins late we didn’t waste any time and ordered our wine. As we were one of 2 tables in the restaurant i was happy to receive them almost immediately.

Starter:

x 2 Larger than Large Glasses of Vino

Pane Monte Bianco

pizza bread topped with garlic butter and melted mozzarella

*Warning* if you aren’t little piglets like us you may want to rain check on this starter if you are going to have a massive main too. It’s basically the size of a large pizza with tonnes of cheese and mozzy. Great to dip in balsamic vinegar. The pepper pot was huge and did look like a massive dildo which we both had a little joke about and made the lady pose to take the picture. She didn’t get the joke… anyway if you have a big appetite you should absolutely order this!

Photo 15-01-2016, 8 29 38 pm

Mains:

Gnocchi Sorrento

potato dumplings in tomato sauce topped with mozzarella baked in our pizza oven with additional grilled chicken because why not!

My favorite thing about this restaurant is they don’t skimp on the portions. Come to think of it.. maybe they give you bigger portions to make up for it being quiet most of the time? I mean someones got to eat the food right? No complaints either way.

Gnocchi is by no means a light bite and being one of my favorite Italian dishes i want as much of it as possible. If you are a hasty eater i would chill because this dish WILL burn your mouth if you even try and attempt to eat it straight away. Even after blowing it repeatedly. I would compare this meal to volcanic lava in edible form. I’ve been there trust me and it’s not fun! I added extra chicken because.. well i have no plans of becoming a vegetarian any time soon. I also asked for Parmesan cheese because… I LOVE CHEESE.
